Verdict: the CHI 13101 is a good mid-price iron for people who want a very smooth glide and a cord that reaches. It has 1700W, a titanium-infused ceramic soleplate with 300+ steam holes, a 10 ft cord, vertical steam and 3-way auto shut-off. CHI does not publish a continuous steam figure, so if raw steam power is your priority the Rowenta DW9440 is the safer choice.

This is a research-based review. We have not tested the CHI 13101 hands-on. Specifications come from CHI and the Amazon.com listing, compared with the other irons we cover. Figures CHI does not publish are marked “not published”.

CHI is best known for hair straighteners, and the 13101 borrows the same idea: a titanium-infused ceramic plate designed to glide. It is our “best long cord” pick in the best steam irons guide.

How we chose these picks

We compared the manufacturers’ published specifications and the Amazon.com listing for each model (sources: Manufacturer product page and Amazon.com listing (checked October 2026)). Where a maker does not publish a figure, we say “not published” rather than guess. We checked that every product was on sale in the US when this page was last updated, and we re-check stock every month. We do not hands-on test products ourselves, and we say so on every review. Commission from retailer links never affects which products we pick. Read how we research.

Key specs explained

Titanium-infused ceramic soleplate. Ceramic plates are prized for glide and even heat. CHI’s version is infused with titanium and has more than 300 steam holes. Ceramic is generally smoother than stainless steel, though it can chip if knocked against hard edges, so store the iron upright.

10 ft cord. Most steam irons ship with a cord of around 8 ft or shorter. Ten feet lets you set the board up away from the outlet and iron long items without the cord dragging the iron back.

1700W. A solid mid-range figure: more than budget irons (1200W to 1600W) and a little under premium models such as the 1800W Rowenta DW9440.

Steam lever and vertical steam. A single slide takes the steam from off to full. Vertical steam lets you hold the iron upright to refresh hanging clothes or curtains.

3-way auto shut-off. The iron turns off if it is left flat, on its side or upright for too long. CHI does not publish the exact timings in the listing we checked.

Not published: continuous steam output and tank capacity. That makes it hard to compare steam power directly with Rowenta, which publishes both figures.

Who should buy it

  • Buy it if your outlet is far from where you iron, if you like a slick, fast glide, or if you want 3-way shut-off at a mid-range price.
  • Skip it if you mostly press heavy linen and denim and want the most steam you can get; a Rowenta Steam Force is the stronger choice on paper.
  • Want the cord to disappear? CHI also sells an iron with an 8 ft retractable cord; see our CHI 13102 review.
